Access: Excellent along entire stream, don’t even need to get your feet wet.

Where: Rock Creek, from DC National Zoo to Walter Reed Medical Center

Catch: N/A – Scouting Trip Only
Access: Easy access to the river all along its length, but too polluted to wade
Basics:
Where: Big Run River, Shenandoah Park (South End, Mile 81), VA

When: May 24 and June 14, 2008
Permits: VA State freshwater permit, no trout stamp required
Catch: A few small native brook trout (6″ or less)
Access: 6 mile hike in, great back country camping, tough hike out. Easy wading in shallow streams.

Where: Greenbrier Resort, White Sulphur Springs, WV

When: July 26-27, 2008
Permits: Must be a guest at Greenbrier; permit & equipment available for $45 at shop in hotel
Catch: About two dozen rainbow trout (stocked and holdovers) 12″ to 18″
Access: Easy wading (bring hip boots) walking distance from hotel
